Caribbean By James Noel On the island I live there are real ghost stories.[1] You see, the culture here is rather primitive, the main part of our populations is descendent from the original African slaves imported two hundred years ago.[2] That means about six generations, but their culture is still strong, especially in their spirituality.[3] I believe these cultures are "animist" cultures, that means that there are spirits ghosts behind everything we see.[4] There is also another theory I have seen, and that is that if the culture believes in spirits, they will appear.[5] Don t know if that is true, but it is common here to hear that so and so was visited by his/her dead mother.[6] Just don t know, but it is true. ...
